Kontides says "everything ready" for Miami World Cup

Cyprus’ Olympic silver medalist sailor, Pavlos Kontides, tweeted that “everything is ready” as he gears up for this year’s first sailing World Cup to begin in Miami today.

The first stage of the 2017 World Cup Series sees over 400 sailors from 44 nations competing out of Regatta Park in Coconut Grove, Miami, US from January 24-29 with some exciting developments to further the experiences of not only the athletes, but for visiting spectators.

As one of the sailors competing in the Cup, Kontides also tweeted pictures showing his preparation efforts leading up to today’s World Cup event.

In December, the London 2012 silver medalist added to his medal tally with gold at the 2016 ISAF Sailing World Cup in Melbourne, Australia.
At the Rio 2016 Olympics, Kontides was unable to make it to the podium after he finished seventh in the men’s Laser medal race, but is hoping to do better in the World Cup.
