Cypriot sailor Pavlos Kontides ranked number 2 in the world
Cypriot sailor Pavlos Kontides is now ranked number two in the world (Men’s Laser) by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF), following the latest rankings released on Tuesday.
Kontides has 935 points, 25 behind number one sailor Austrian Matt Wearn. Croatian Tonci Stipanovic is third with 925 points.
Kontides became the first Cypriot athlete ever to win an Olympic medal for his country, by winning the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men`s Laser class.
On Tuesday Kontides posted on Twitter that he is currently in Cyprus to spend some time with his family before flying abroad to continue his training for the Rio Olympics.
