Arsenal scouting Olympiacos wonderkid Panagiotis Retsos
Arsenal are scouting highly-rated Olympiacos full-back Panagiotis Retsos, according to British media.
The 18-year-old has broken into the Greek giant’s first-team this term, having played in nine matches in all competitions.
Retsos featured in Greece U19s’ 2-0 European Championship qualifier win over Wales in Wrexham on Thursday, and according to Goal.com an Arsenal scout was present to keep an eye on him as he played the full 90 minutes as captain.
Retsos can play in all positions along the back line, though he has been used mainly at left-back because of Alberto de la Bella’s absence through injury.
Nacho Monreal is the Gunners’ first choice left-back, but his lack of pace has been a concern this season and at the age of 30, Arsene Wenger may not consider him a long-term option, reported The Sun.
As things stand, Kieran Gibbs would have no competition for the left-back slot when Monreal does move on.
He is currently tied to Olympiacos until June 2021.
