Red Star Belgrade 'delighted' with Cyprus training camp

Serbian giant’s Red Star Belgrade concluded a two-week winter training camp in Cyprus on Sunday, stating that they were “delighted” with their stay.
Training at Geroskipou Sports Training Centre from 31 January to 14 February, the Serbian SuperLiga side enjoyed a hosted dinner from Pafos Tourism Board before heading back home.
Senior officials from the 1991 European Cup winners were said to be “very happy” with the training facilities, accommodation and destination in general.
“Pafos Tourism Board (PTB) believes that there are several good conditions to enable the region to occupy a better position in the sports world with regards to winter training camps,” read a statement.
“Particularly, Geroskipou and Pegeia have very good infrastructure and facilities.”
PTB noted that there is an urgent need for new football fields in order to attract more international sports teams, especially if it is to capitalise on its sports tourism potential.
In addition to football teams, Paphos has previously welcomed athletes from sports such as golf, watersports, cycling and triathlon events.
