Dr. Selmer Bringsjord - TEDxLimassol Speaker
Dr. Selmer Bringsjord - Logico-mathematical and Philosophical Foundations of Artifical Intelligence will be one of the 20 speakers of the upcoming TEDxLimassol conferece “True Heroes” that will take place in Limassol on 3 October.
TEDxLimassol aims to make the city a centre of scientific, technological research, innovation, and creativity in the wider south-east Mediterranean region.
Is there a possibility for a robot to act as a hero? Is there a crossing line that separates robot from hero and those from man?
The future of humanity will have heroes closed in machines or the concept of "hero" will no longer exist in the future since through technology we’ll be able to do the impossible?
Dr. Selmer Bringsjord specializes in the logico-mathematical and philosophical foundations of artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive science (CogSci), and in collaboratively building AI systems on the basis of computational logic.
Though he spends considerable engineering time in pursuit of ever-smarter computing machines, DR. Bringsjord claims that "armchair" reasoning time has enabled him to deduce that the human mind will forever be superior to such machines.
In the present case, this superiority entails that robot can't be heroes, while persons can.
TEDxLimassol is powered by the Bank of Cyprus and MTN, and is based on the international models. They are presenting the true heroes that inspire, innovate and supply participants with impulses, ideas, perceptions, in the vanguard of thought, science and art.
