Limassol: Police arrest 15 y/o breaking into jewellery shop

A 15-year-old was arrested attempting to break-in to a jewellery shop in Limassol using brass knuckles, police reported on Thursday.

According to a police statement, authorities received an anonymous call at approximately 3:15pm that a youth was attempting to break the glass window of a jewellery shop using brass knuckles.

Police reported that officers immediately arrived on the scene, where they attempted to stop the 15-year-old, who was also holding a knife along with the brass knuckles.

In an attempt to stop the youth, one officer was kicked and insulted.

The officers at the scene were eventually able to arrest the 15-year-old, police reported.

The teenager was taken to the police station, where he was recognised by another woman as the assailant that attempted to rob her shortly before the incident at the jewellery shop.

A court-ordered arrest warrant was issued for the youth and in a voluntary statement he appears to have admitted to the incident, police said.

Limassol police are continuing their investigations.
