Fire drill takes place at Larnaca airport
A large scale four-day fire and rescue drill began on Monday at Larnaca International Airport. The exercise will last until Thursday.
Larnaca District Officer at the Fire Department Stelios Stylianou told the press that the drill takes place in order to assess the preparedness of the firemen who are based at the airport and the firemen who serve in the other cities.
According to the scenario, an aircraft is supposed to land at the airport and right after a fire breaks out, providing for the firemen to respond immediately. The fire is fully extinguished using water, foam and powder and the passengers evacuate the plane with special ladders and the assistance of the firemen.
