Armenian's National Assembly's historic visit to Cyprus
President of the Armenian National Assembly Galust Sahakyan was received on Thursday by President of the Parliament Yiannakis Omirou.
The latter described Sahakyan`s visit to Cyprus as a historic one, as referring to historical ties and common destiny of the two peoples.
Sahakyan said the two countries will strengthen their cooperation in international fora.
“This is an historic visit to Cyprus as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide”, Omirou told the press after his meeting with Sahakyan.
Cyprus and Armenia Posts jointly issued on Thursday a stamp, commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide.
The stamp depicts the building of the Melkonian Educational Institute, in Nicosia, that hosted orphans from Ottoman Turkey who survived and became a distinctive point of Cyprus` Armenian community.
