ISIL encroach on Turkey: take 5 Syrian border towns
Five villages close to the Turkish border with Syria have been taken over by ISIL militants according to sources from the NTV channel in Turkey.
The channel noted that the militants are in the zone that Turkey and the US hope to establish as a militant free zone.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced, earlier this week, that Turkey and the US have come to an agreement to launch a series of airstrikes on IS militants soon.
The plan is to create a zone free of encroaching militants, and have the area monitored by moderate opposition forces that would not include Kurdish fighters in the area, according to the interview Cavusoglu gave to Reuters.
