Request to Greek Court to share information on Vgenopoulos
The members of the investigative team, researching the reasons for the economic crisis in Cyprus, are going to send a legal request (letter rogatory) to Greek courts to share evidence with them that they have gathered on ex-CEO of Marfin Laiki Bank, Andreas Vgenopoulos.
The member of the team believe Vgenopoulos’ depostition to be a critical part of the investigation.
In the letter rogatory they will add that the questioning of Vgenopoulos needs to happen as soon as possible.
The investigation being conducted will deal will the time period from 2006, when HSBC announced the transfer of the shares they held in Laiki Bank, to 2013 when the bank shut down.
In accordance with the Greek authorities’ response to the letter rogatory, they will drive the developments in the case.
