Greek pole vaulter registers new national record in New York
Katerina Stefanidi registered a new national record in the women’s pole vault clearing 4.90 metres at the New York meeting this weekend.
The Greek pole-vaulter broke the 4.81m national indoor record that was just seven days old, from 14 February, recorded by Nicole Kyriakopoulou.
Stefanidi’s jump over 4.90m was the second best indoor performance in the world so far this year.
The outdoor national record stands at 4.83m, so that was the best jump ever by a Greek athlete.
