AEK see off Sigal Prishtina to reach round of 32
Petrolina AEK Larnaca held off a late BC Sigal Prishtina rally to secure an 83-70 win which sees them through to the Round of 32 in the FIBA Europe Cup.
AEK led from midway through the first quarter, stretching their advantage to 43-24 late in the second quarter, but Sigal threatened a late comeback as an 11-0 run spanned the third and fourth quarters, and saw the gap down to 66-63 when Khalid El-Amin hit a three with 5:43 to go. However, AEK outscored their hosts 13-5 in the final 3:25 to take the win.
Sigal's rally was cut short as they missed their last six three-point attempts. Prior to that dry run, they had made 10-of-27 but they lost their touch when they needed it most.
Thaddus McFadden hit 6-of-9 from deep on his way to a game-high 29 points for AEK.
AEK will join Energia Targu Jia in the next round of the competition.
