APOEL enjoy resounding Nicosia derby win over Omonia
APOEL capitalised on AEK Larnaca’s failure to secure all three points on Saturday with a resounding 4-1 win over fellow title hopefuls Omonia at GSP Stadium.
Goals from ex-Omonia favourite Giorgos Efrem (18), Vinicius (66) and a Pieros Sotiriou (34, 38) double ensured a resounding Nicosia derby win for the defending champions.
Renato Margaca scored for Omonia with 55 minutes on the clock.
Thrylos’ resounding win, and AEK’s draw, means that Thomas Christiansen’s side reduced the deficit at the top to just two points.
John Carver’s Omonia remain fourth on 24 points, now six points behind second placed APOEL and eight behind AEK.
