Anorthosis Famagusta announce Hélio Pinto signing
Anorthosis Famagusta arguably pulled off the biggest signing on transfer deadline a day after announcing that former APOEL star Hélio Pinto joined the club late on Monday night.
The 31-year-old midfielder returns to Cyprus after a three-year absence and has signed a contract with André Paus' side until the end of the season.
An official statement from the club reads: “Anorthosis Famagusta is pleased to announce that Hélio Pinto, who had been released by his club Al-Mesaimeer in Qatar, has signed for our club until the end of the season.
“The player will join the rest of the team and we wish him every success with Anorthosis.”
The Old Lady represents Pinto’s third Cypriot First Division club after spending the 2005-06 season at Apollon Limassol following on from a long and successful stint at APOEL from 2006-13.
After departing Nicosia, the Portuguese attacking midfielder had a two-season spell at Polish side Legia Warsaw before moving to Qatar.
