APOEL's Carlao close to completing switch to Italy's Torino

APOEL confirmed today that Brazilian centre-back, Carlao, has “expressed his intention to leave the club, after a proposal yesterday evening from Italian Serie A side, Torino.”
The defending Cypriot champions, added: “To complete the transfer, the Italian side has until January 10 to pay the player’s minimum fee release clause inserted within his contract.”
According to, that minimum fee release clause is 500,000 euros.

Carlao joined the Nicosia giants prior to the 2014-15 season, winning consecutive titles, clocking around 60 league appearances.
Prior to coming to Cyprus, the 30-year-old was with France’s Sochaux and Brazil’s Corinthians.
If the transfer goes through, the Brazilian will work under ex-Serbia and AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic, and play alongside stars such as England’s Joe Hart and Italian ‘hot-shot’ Andrea Belotti.
Torino are currently eighth on 28 points after 18 Seria A matches.
If Carlao decides to depart the club it would prove to be a bitter blow to their title defence chances with the Brazilian becoming a fan favourite for his consistent and quality performances.
APOEL currently are second, level on points (40), with table toppers AEL Limassol after 17 Protathlima CYTA matches.
