Apollon Limassol crowned Cyprus Cup champions
Apollon Limassol were crowned Cyprus Coca-Cola Cup champions on Wednesday night after an entertaining 2-1 win over Omonia Nicosia at Tsirion Stadium.
The Limassol side made a bright side to the match when they took the lead after just five minutes through talisman Fotis Papoulis.
Apollon remained 1-0 ahead going into the break but shortly after resuming matters Omonia levelled matters via Renato Margaca six minutes in.
However, Apollon – playing at what is usually their home stadium for domestic matches – retook the lead when Cypriot international Angelis Angeli scored a rare goal.
Apollon had already qualified for the UEFA Europa League after finishing third in the league so the only consolation for the losers on the night is that they will also have a European campaign to look forward to next season.
