Cyprus begins preparations for Serbia friendly

Cyprus’ national soccer team has got together as they begin preparations for their upcoming friendly away to Serbia on May 25.
The match will take place at 6:30pm (Cyprus) at Užice City Stadium.
Apollon Limassol and Omonia players selected in the squad haven’t participated in training as they prepare for Wednesday’s Cyprus Cup Final.
Marios Nicolaou (Inter Turku) and Jason Demetriou (Walsall) also didn’t take part due to club commitments.
AEK’s Nestoras Mytides and Eskisehirspor’s Dossa Junior are ‘touch and go’ for the friendly after picking up knocks in training.
Further training sessions are due to be held on May 19, 20 and 21 at Anorthosis Famagusta’s Antonis Karras Training Centre, before the team departs for Serbia on Sunday morning.
While in Serbia the Cyprus national side will hold two more sessions on May 22 and 23, while another session will be held at the Stadium on May 24.
The match will be Cyprus boss Christakis Christoforou’s second game in charge after replacing Pambos Christodoulou. Cyprus lost 1-0 to away to Ukraine in the former Apollon and AEL manager's debut in the Cypriot dugout.
