AEK Larnaca back on top
AEK Larnaca return temporarily to the top of the table on Sunday with victory 2-0 against Ethnikos Achnas.
Jorge Monteiro with a wicked free kick opened the score for AEK after half an hour of play and the visitors were not determined to squander any more points and were in complete of the game and limited Ethnikos to just 2 chances in the whole of the game.
Andre Alves in stoppage time finished the game off for Thomas Christiansen’s when Ethnikos defender Charis Kyriakou dreadful back pass to goalkeeper Adanda was intercepted by the Brazilian and slotted the ball into an empty net to make the final score 2-0 to AEK Larnaca.
That win brings AEK Larnaca temporarily back to the top of the Cyprus Championship table with 19 points together with APOEL who have a game in hand when they face Nea Salamina on Monday.
In the other game of the day Doxa Katokopias defeated Enosis Neon Paralimniou 2-1 at the Makario Stadium with Ricardo Fernandez scoring an absolute screamer in the 81st minute to give his team a vital victory in the quest for survival.
