Omonia: Hafez in, Perez on his way out
Omonia Nicosia have agreed to sign on loan 19 year old Egyptian left back Karim Ramadan Hafez from Belgian club Lierse just 24 hours before the transfer window closes.
According to club sources, Kostas Kaiafas had no intention of keeping Matias Perez at the club and the “Greens” had their eyes on the transfer market for a suitable replacement for Perez, which they have found in the name of Karim Ramadan Hafez which has come to Cyprus and has undergone a medical which he has passed and will soon sign his loan move to the Cypriot Club.
Earlier today Omonia officials have released statement regarding the youngsters loan move from Lierse to Omonia it states:
“Omonia are pleased to announce the agreement with Belgian club Lierse for 19 year old Karim Ramadan Hafez, he has passed his medical and we are extremely pleased for this deal as the player 2 weeks ago was very close to signing a deal with AEK Athens”.
Hafez made his debut for Lierse last season and was one of the club’s upcoming stars, scoring three goals in the Jupiler Pro League. He couldn’t save the club from relegation, but the Egyptians form didn’t go unnoticed as he was called up to the national team by Egypt’s Argentine manager Héctor Raul Cúper, and made his debut for the Pharaohs in June, coming off the bench in a 2-1 friendly win against Malawi.
That means that Karim Hafez is Omonia’s third signing in the space of 10 days, after the signings of former APOEL defender Helder Kabral and the return of Demetris Christofi from Sion Omonia are clearly showing their intentions in strengthening their defence and attacking options an area that has clearly cost them in Europe and in the first defeat of the season in the league to Ethnikos Achnas on Saturday.
