Facebook calls for aid wake of Nepal earthquake
Facebook launched a portal on their website for members to donate to search and rescue efforts in Nepal, in the wake of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit on Saturday.
The social media site is urging its members to donate to the emergency response teams responding to the earthquake that struck near Kathmandu, over the weekend, and the social network will match contributions up to $2 million.
Facebook has added a message at the top of the News Feed to encourage its members to donate funds to the International Medical Corps. Facebook's matching funds will go toward local search and rescue organizations.
They rolled out a tool over the weekend to help people in affected regions inform others on the site about their safety.
The quake was the worst to hit Nepal in 80 years.
