Eide: Turkey’s strong will on Cyprob solution
UN Special Adviser on Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide, has indicated Turkey’s positive attitude through Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s statements regarding Cyprob.
More specifically, after a meeting held in North Cyprus with Mufti Dr. Talip Atalay, he said that Erdoğan’s statements expressed Turkey’s strong will to support the negotiations due to meet an agreement on Cyprob.
Eide stated that guarantor powers’ involvement is necessary due to reach a substantial solution, avoiding the infringement of security provisions.
The UN Adviser also added that Akinci’s meeting with Erdoğan was of striking importance, regarding the tight relation between Turkish Cypriots living in Cyprus and Turkey-based Turkish Cypriots.
“As I understand it, the meeting was a success and this was confirmed by Turkey's support at the highest level," he added.
