British foreign minister calls off Cyprus visit
London has announced that British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has postponed his planned visit to Cyprus due to the ongoing nuclear talks in Switzerland between Iran and the major powers.
"The Foreign Secretary had planned to travel to Nicosia but ongoing Iran talks mean his travel plans regrettably had to change," Michael Howes, spokesman for the British High Commission here has told CNA.
Hammond was due to arrive tomorrow for talks with his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides and leave the same day.
No new visit has been scheduled as Hammond would be returning to the UK, which has entered an election period.
