Tourist dies in fatal crash in Deryneia
A fatal car accident claimed the life of a 35-year-old Russian tourist, who was vacationing with his wife.
The couple had arrived on 20 July and were set to go back to Russia on Sunday 26 July.
According to the police, at around 15.30, a 34-year-old woman, also a tourist from Russia was driving a buggy on Eleftherias Avenue in Deryneia, with her husband as a passenger in the vehicle.
At some point on the road, under circumstances that are being investigated, the driver climbed onto the pavement and hit a walkway railing, which caused the vehicle to overturn.
The 35-year-old man was seriously injured in the accident and taken by ambulance to the Famagusta General Hospital in Paralimini, where the doctors announced his death.
The 34-year-old woman was slightly injured and kept for further care at the hospital. The police conducted an alcohol test on the woman that showed a result of zero. The man and the woman were both wearing seatbelts.
Famagusta police are investigating the reasons that caused the death of the man.
