Germany sees Cyprus as a great business hub
Germany`s Ambassador in Nicosia, Nikolai von Schoepff, said today after a meeting held with President Anastasiades that his country has indicated a great potential for business openings in Cyprus.
“I met the President and I offered Germany`s support for the peace process. We are very encouraged from what is going on”, the Ambassador said.
Nikolai von Schoepff: “We see great potentials; we are prepared to do more”.
Schoepff noted that “Germany wants to help in very concrete way, especially to bring more business here. We see Cyprus as a great business pivot between Europe and the Arab world and also a united Cyprus and Germany can do a lot to improve the business situation.
To a question whether Germany supports the Cypriot President`s proposal for a more active involvement of the EU in the negotiation process for a Cyprus solution, he said “absolutely”, adding that “Germany is in favor of a strong EU here, Cyprus is part of the EU, and the EU should be more active here. We fully support this”.
Asked if during the meeting they discussed about any concrete ways of an EU involvement in the negotiations for a Cyprus solution, the German Ambassador said that “I am not really responsible for the EU but we support the President in this process. We had a brain storming and let`s say results will come later.”
